-Regional Overview

Alexandria Minerals has assembled a portfolio of high-potential mineral properties within the Abitibi Belt, a 500-km long sequence of volcanic, sedimentary and granitic rocks more than 2.5 billion years old, stretching from northeastern Ontario into northwestern Quebec. This world-class belt has produced almost 200 million ounces of gold since the first mines were developed in the 1900s. Significant historic mines in the belt include the McIntyre (29 million ounces), Sigma-Lamaque (14 million ounces), Kerr-Addison (10 million ounces), Lake Shore (8 million ounces), and many other deposits that have each produced at least 2 million ounces of gold. The belt also hosts world-class base-metals deposits in mining camps such as Kidd Creek, Noranda, Val d’Or and Chibougamau. Some of these base metal deposits have also produced significant amounts of gold, notably the copper mines in the Chibougamau camp and the historic Horne Mine in the Noranda camp, which produced more than 10 million ounces of gold.
Gold deposits in belts such as the Abitibi are typically located near, or controlled by, major fault zones, which act as conduits for gold-bearing solutions to travel up and along, and ultimately form deposits in nearby geological structures. Alexandria’s strategy is to acquire properties along and near these proven regional fault structures. The company’s core projects are situated along or near the Cadillac-Larder Lake Break, which extends for more than 300 km from Matachewan, Ontario, and eastward into the Val d’Or camp of Quebec. More than 100 million ounces of gold have been produced from numerous historic and still-producing mines located on or near this important geological structure.
Alexandria Minerals owns or has rights to acquire 21 properties along the Cadillac Break stretching from Matachewan in the west to Val d’Or in the east, comprising more than 15% of this fault zone. The Company’s current focus is on its extensive land position in Val d’Or, where it currently holds rights to 557 claims, including a 23 km corridor of 529 claims along the Cadillac Break. The Company assembled this premier land position through staking and through option and acquisition agreements with Teck-Cominco (formerly Aur Resources), IAMGOLD (formerly Cambior) and various other companies.
