Sleepy Property - 8 Claims, 328 hectares, Louvicourt Township
-Project Summary
Located at the eastern end of the Cadillac Break properties, about 25 km from Orenada, the Sleepy gold zone is a 300 m long by 250 m deep disseminated pyrite-gold zone hosted in the Vicour gabbro sill about 3.5 km east along strike with the Sigma 2 Gold mine. Discovered in the late 1980’s by Cambior Inc. who tested a combined glacial till anomaly and an Induced Polarization anomaly, Cambior sunk 25 holes into the historic deposit broadly defining the zone. It remains open at depth and along strike.
Alexandria has drilled 9 holes on the Sleepy property, including 5 into the main gold zone, where it has quadrupled the size of the zone with drill results such as 3.35 g/t Au over 8.95 m and 3.55 g/t Au over 6.35 m. Gold mineralization occurs in intensely albitized, blue-quartz bearing gabbro toward the southern margin of the east-west trending sill.
In addition, in 2008 the Company discovered a stringer copper zone about 1 km east of the gold zone, consisting of a chalcopyrite and bornite hosted in dacitic and andesitic volcanic rocks south of the Vicour gabbro sill yielded 0.34% Cu over 35.8 m.
In 2009, the Company will drill a deep level offset hole at the gold zone, about 150 m deeper than previous drilling and will follow up on the copper discovery by testing a deep EM anomaly.
