Overview Top
The Matachewan Property is located northeast of the town of Matachewan, ON approximately 60 km west of the prolific Kirkland Lake mining district. The property consists of 3,696 hectares and straddles 8 km of the Cadillac Larder Lake Break, the same region. Geologically, Matachewan is underlain by a series of ultramafic to felsic intrusive volcanic rocks that are in contact with the metasedimentary Timiskaming group to the northwest and the Cairo syenite intrusive to the north east. All of these rock groups are overlain by Proterozoic arkosic quartzites and conglomerates that make up the Cobalt Group. Gold mineralization has been identified within the Cairo syenite intrusive stock, as well as the volcanic rocks and Temiskaming metasedimentary rocks.

Alexandria's property is located 3 km east of the past producing Matachewan Consolidated Mine (371,000 ounces Au) and Young Davidson Mine (500,000 ounces?), now the site of Northgrate Minerals' Young Davidson Project that has a current resource of over 2.8 million ounces of gold and will begin production in early 2012.

Geology Top
The dominant geological feature on the Matachewan property is the Cairo syenite stock in northeast quadrant of the property, with satellite plugs and dykes intruding the Upper Supergroup volcanics to the south and Timiskaming Group Sediments to the west.

The Cadillac Larder Lake Break runs southwest through the property and lies beneath the subsequent deposition of argillaceous and arkosic quartzites that make up the Cobalt Group. In addition to this regional fault system several subsidiary shear zones and lateral northwest faults occur on the property.

Historical exploration work has shown that the highest grades of gold mineralization occur north of the Cadillac Larder Lake Break, along the contact of the Cairo syenitic intrusive and the highly sheared and altered metasediments of the Timiskaming group. Gold mineralization occurs within quartz-carbonate veins and is accompanied primarily by pyrite and chalcopyrite with traces of molybdenum and galena.

Recent drilling by Alexandria in 2008 intersected gold mineralization of 2.25 g/t Au over 6.00m in a subsidiary fault south of the CLLB. This drill hole tested an Induced Polarization target on the property and opened up a series of new IP exploration targets within the mafic-intermediate and ultramafic volcanic units.

Historical Exploration Top
The Matachewan property has been intermittently explored since the 1960's with extensive surface mapping; glacial tills sampling; trenching; and geochemical and geophysical surveys, including MAG, VLF, HLEM, and EM, being completed. Historically, a total of 33 near surface drill holes totaling more than 2,500 metres have been completed on the property.

Between 2002 and 2008 Alexandria Minerals completed over 2,500 metres of drilling on Matachewan in 9 different holes. Drilling tested various IP, glacial Till and geochemical targets with results as high as 2.25 g/t Au over 6.00m.

Current Exploration Top
Currently Alexandria is not actively exploring on the Matachewan property and is seeking new partners for further development of this property.
