Overview Top
The Orenada property is located on the western end of the Cadillac Break property package, approximately 4 km south east of the town of Val d'Or, QC. The property straddles the Cadillac Tectonic Zone (CTZ) and hosts two surface vein-type gold deposits, Orenada Zone 2 and Orenada Zone 4, within this shear zone. In the Fall of 2009, Alexandria completed a NI 43-101 compliant resource estimate on Orenada Zone 2 and 4 that identified Measured and Indicated resources of 446,000 ounces of gold and an Inferred resource of 302,000 ounces of gold.

Geology Top
The Orenada property is underlain by the Pontiac Group of sediments south of the CTZ, and the Upper Malartic Group's mafic volcanic rocks to the north, additionally two dioritic intrusions are present within the Malartic Group. Marking the southern boundary of shear zone ( CTZ) is a narrow elongated band of highly deformed and altered ultramafic schists known as the Piche Group. Perhaps importantly, the location of the gold deposit within the CTZ occurs within the contact aureole of the nearby Centrepost diorite stock.

Gold mineralization is principally hosted in deformed metasedimentary schists and associated with deformed quartz-carbonate-tourmaline-veinlets. Concentrations of these veinlets form lenticular shaped ore bodies that average 25 m in width (north/south), up to 60 m in length (east/west) and extend up to of 300 m down dip. The highest, and most continuous, grades of mineralization are strongly correlated to concentrations of arsenopyrite and zones of intense alteration.

Additionally, a third zone of gold-copper mineralization, Orenada Zone 5, has been identified north of the CTZ and is characterized by a metsomatic zone of alteration between the Upper Malartic Group, to the north, and a porphyritic diorite sill to the south.

Historical Exploration Top
1930 - 2000
Orenada has been intermittently explored since the early 1930's, however, major exploration efforts did not begin until the early 1970's. Between 1976 and 1984, Brominco completed 9,500 m of exploration drilling and outlined a resource of 357,295 tonnes with an average grade 2.86 g/t Au. Brominco continued development on the property with a small bulk tonnage sample that produced 865 ounces of gold (20,418 tonnes grading 1.67 g/t Au ) at Orenada Zone 4.

Shortly after Brominco's amalgamation with Aur Resources in 1985, a 276 metre shaft was sunk in the dioritic intrusive north of the CTZ. Over the course of the following two years an aggressive exploration programme on the property saw the completion of 1,100 metres of exploration drifts; underground and surface drilling totaling 16,000 metres and 3,700 metres, respectively; and a resource estimate outlining 3.5Mt grading 1.65 g/t Au.

In the early 1990's Aur Resources completed a second, larger, bulk sample that produced 4,000 ounces of gold (72,195 tonnes grading 1.72 g/t Au) via custom milling at the Company's Lac Herbin mill facility, located 10km north of the Orenada property.

Alexandria Exploration 2007 - 2009
Alexandria began a multi-rig exploration programme in the Spring of 2007 that concluded in July 2008 with 52-holes of exploration drilling totaling 21,744 metres. This drill programme expanded the zone of mineralization from a mere 200m wide and 100m deep to over 800m along strike 450m deep.

In early 2009, Geologica Groupe-Counsel was commissioned by Alexandria to complete a NI 43-101 resource estimate on Oreanda Zone 2 and Zone 4. The report, released in August 2009, outlines a near surface gold deposit with a Measured and Indicated resource of 435,000 ounces Au and an Inferred resource of 279,100 ounces Au.

Current Activities Top
Alexandria is currently evaluating economic production scenarios at Orenada that include in-situ milling operations and outsourced custom-mill operations. The Company intends to find a partner for this property to 1) lead to production and 2) enlarge the deposit through drilling.
